Thanks to the generosity of our donors and supporters, AUAF sent 20 children of Ukraine’s fallen heroes to a three-week summer healing camp near Mukachevo in the Carpathian Mountains.
The teenagers, ages 13 to 17, stayed in a peaceful resort that was transformed into a safe and supportive environment. Experienced trauma specialists were present throughout the program, helping the children begin the difficult process of healing after the loss of a parent.
The camp also gave them the opportunity to enjoy time outdoors, make new friends, and experience moments of peace and normalcy. Activities included hiking, fishing, canoeing, river visits, campfires, and stargazing.
Their journey to camp was not easy. After the original train route was cut off due to the war, alternative transportation was arranged using minibusses and a connecting train. Thankfully, everyone arrived safely.
This was meaningful work, and it would not have been possible without your support. Thank you for helping these courageous children take an important step toward healing.
