In December, in the midst of a brutally cold winter, the American Ukrainian Aid Foundation, together with dedicated teams in the United States and Ukraine, brought warmth, joy, and hope to children across central Ukraine whose lives have been continuously disrupted by the war.
Three holiday events were held in the central Ukrainian towns of Smila and Zolotonosha, supporting more than 400 orphans, children in need, and children of fallen Ukrainian heroes. Despite daily missile and drone attacks, destroyed power grids, and constant fear, their spirits are not broken.
On December 14, a winter festival was held at the Good News Church in Smila. Many of the children had never experienced a celebration like this. They were welcomed by a joyful Polar Bear entertainer and enjoyed music, dancing, baking activities, warm meals, sweets, LEGO gifts, and much-needed winter clothing.
On December 26, a holiday gathering was held for the children of fallen Ukrainian heroes, also in Smila. The children shared warm food, received gifts and winter clothes, and experienced moments of laughter, togetherness, and comfort during an unimaginably difficult time.
On December 24, a celebration was held at a children’s home for orphans and disadvantaged children in Zolotonosha. Once again, the Polar Bear brought extra joy, while baking, music, games, warm meals, gifts, and winter clothing filled the day with smiles and laughter.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all who made these events possible.
In a time when war has taken so much from Ukraine’s children, your generosity and support continue to bring joy, comfort, and hope to Ukraine’s most vulnerable souls and remind them they are not forgotten.
